Strategic Climate Risks Initiative executive director, Laurie Laybourn, was quoted in The Telegraph’s report on growing scientific and governmental concern over a slowdown in the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation (AMOC). Laurie explained that disruption would not wait for a full collapse: parts of the system.

“Bits of the AMOC could begin collapsing on the journey to the full collapse,” said Laurie Laybourn, a fellow at Chatham House and director of the Strategic Climate Risks Initiative. “It’s a process that would have disruption along the way.”
